Timo Stammberger / Exhibition / Berlin / Fotogalerie Friedrichshain
Upcoming exhibition of Timo Stammberger together with Norman Behrendt.

We are happy to present “Unbekannt“, an exhibition showing works of the photographers Timo Stammberger and Norman Behrendt at the non-commercial art space Fotogalerie Friedrichshain. Please come to the opening, on the 14th of January, 19h.
“Graffiti writers and other urban artists who work in public space, significantly influence the appearance of many cities and especially that of Berlin. In the exhibition “Unbekannt” (”Unknown”) the two Berlin based photographers Norman Behrendt and Timo Stammberger show portraits of some protagonists of these often difficult to access scenes. These people are often not perceived as artists, pursued by the police, and receive recognition only within their scene. But why do they follow an enormous pressure to perform, oppose the rules, and invest their money, time and energy into their art, with the risk of getting arrested? In “Unbekannt” the displayed artists are neither glorified nor condemned. Rather, Behrendt and Stammberger show intimate view of those, whose image is often distorted by the media.”
For more images see Burning down the house by Norman Behrendt and Urban Artists on Timo Stammbergers’ website.
The gallery is located central at the Warschauer Strasse S/U station (directions). More information at the Facebook group.
The photo on the flyer above is taken by Norman Behrendt.

El Bocho / Video / Collaboration with CNN / Go Beyond Borders
Collaboration of CNN and El Bocho in Berlin.

CNN International and El Bocho worked together for the project “Go Beyond Borders”. This project takes the visitor 20 years back in time to the events which happend during the Fall of the Wall in Berlin1989.
In the presented artworks one will discover some of the people who were brave enough to challenge the wall. In doing this, “Go Beyond Borders” is an appeal to think further and overcome frontiers. This is exactly what these people were driven by, two decades ago in a city where the frontier was part of the everyday life, dividing the city in half.
El Bocho used tape to recreate scenes that happend at the wall, at the orginial locations. Therefore, 40.000 meters of tape have been produced.
The actions can be seen from the 9th until 15th of November, following the former course of the Wall from the Bernauer Straße in Wedding right through the city until the Elsenstraße in Treptow.
Use this google maps to find all locations with many additional informations and pictures.
Several videos can be found at the “Go Beyond Borders” Youtube channel.
CNN International belongs to CNN Worldwide and is received in over 250 million households in more than 200 countries. Find more about Go Beyond Borders on the CNN Berlin Wall page.
